Drinking water on construction sites should be obtained and handled with care to prevent contamination.  Improper storage, distribution, or dispensing can lead to a number of communicable diseases.

Tips for safe water

  • An adequate supply of potable water should be provided in all places of employment

  • Containers used to dispense drinking water should be kept tightly closed and equipped with a tap

  • Water should not be dipped from containers

  • Any container used to distribute drinking water should be clearly marked as to the nature of its contents and not used for any other purpose

  • The use of a common drinking cup is prohibited

  • Single service cups should be used once and a sanitary container for the unused cups and a receptacle for disposing of the used cups should be provided

  • All water containers used to furnish drinking water should be thoroughly cleaned at least once each week or more often as conditions require

  • If using water bottles, store bottles out of direct sunlight

  • No drinking from hoses or unapproved sources.

Good fresh water will not only be better for you, it will also be more refreshing.  Remember to hydrate, before you are thirsty.
